THIRSK Sixth Form College Courses. Home. Why Thirsk?. Making Choices. College Life. Application Form. Results Day

Results are the final reckoning and results day is crucial for our year 13 as they wait to confirm places at University. Again, Thirsk College is fully committed to supporting our students through this stressful time and is there to celebrate or support and offer advice if needed.  Year 13 are rightly priority on the day as we sit alongside our students and deal with admissions tutors and exam boards where necessary. In addition Year 12 receive their AS Level results on the same day, many of whom we discuss results with immediately. If time does not allow for this, we are available in college the next day and individually interview all as they return as year 13 in September. The individual care and attention our students receive is second to none.

Presentation Evening

Perhaps the final formal chapter in our student’s link with Thirsk College is Presentation Evening in December. As many of our ex-year 13 return to Thirsk from University for the Christmas break or from employment or travel this is a wonderful opportunity to meet up with friends and teachers and celebrate the success’ of the summer results.  This warm and informal evening is characterised by anecdotes and stories as staff take time to recollect their memories of Year 13 and share with parents and students alike the strange and humorous as well as the noteworthy and admirable. Alongside the presentation of examination certificates, subject awards are presented by Head of Departments and a range of other certificates are issued. The presentation of ‘The Shield of Endeavour’ is the culmination of the evening as one student is recognised for their academic achievement and contribution to college life. With the formalities over there is plenty of time to catch up on life after Thirsk College and continue the celebration over the holidays.
