Thirsk 6th Form College values you as an individual. During your time with us, we will support you as you aspire to achieve your potential. As a friendly community of around 200 students, Thirsk College gives you the opportunity to further your education in a familiar environment but also offers you an extended range of facilities more suitable for your needs as an older, more independent student.

At Thirsk College, we will support you as you aim for challenging academic goals. Your subject teachers and pastoral tutors will work hard to ensure your success and progress and we expect you to be equally committed. With the use of clear, focused data, we will discuss your individual aspirations and help you to achieve your potential by monitoring your progress in one-to-one tutor meetings and through regular subject appraisals. We will also design action plans tailored to your needs. Throughout your time with us, we will work alongside you to reach shared goals.

We have a proud record of examination success in both ‘A’ Level and Applied courses. For many of our students, a place at university is the ultimate aim so you are supported through the application process as part of our guidance programme. For others, a GAP year or employment is the preferred choice and through Connexions and with local community support, we can help you make the right choice.

In addition to our impressive academic record, Thrisk College also prides itself in recognizing that our students are young adults with a range of skills, talents and interests. In organising the Autumn Fair and the Senior Citizens Party, our students make a positive contribution to the local community and experience increased responsibility, as they represent the college and themselves. Uniquely in North Yorkshire, we welcome our Year 12 with the Freshers’ Ball and send our Year 13 off with the Leavers’ Ball. There are many other events and opportunities throughout the year that encourage you to develop social, organisational and team working skills as well as progressing academically (Play hard, Work hard).

We thoroughly enjoy working with the students in our college and would welcome you if you choose to join us. We value the academic success you will have at Thirsk College and are keen to see you develop as an individual. We look forward to making a positive contribution to your future.
